GOULD Stephen

  • Stephen Gould is one of the most saught after heldenternos of our time. 

    He spent the summer 2021 at Bayreuth performing Tannhäuser, Parsifal and a production of Tristan und Isolde for children.
    In fall he sings the 1st act of a concert performance of Die Walküre conducted by Christian Thielemann at the postponed Salzburg Easter Festival.
    2022 he will perform, among others, Tannhäuser in Dresden and Berlin, Ariadne auf Naxos at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Tannhäuser and Götterdämmerung at Bayreuth Festival.
    2023 are scheduled, among others, Tristan und Isolde in Valencia as well as Tannhäuser and Götterdämmerung in Bayreuth.

    He sang Beethoven’s 9th symphony in Berlin and Munich, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis in Chicago, Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder in Dresden, Munich, Montreal, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Montreux and at the Lucerne Festival, Mahler's 8th symphony in Bergen, New York with Pierre Boulez, Leipzig, Paris, Vienna and Budapest, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde in Chicago, Berlin, Graz, Lucerne, Paris and Prague, or Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex in London.

    Among his recordings are Beethoven IX with Donald Runnicles, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung and Tristan und Isolde with Christian Thielemann as well as Siegfried and Tristan und Isolde with Marek Janowski.

    In May 2015 he was awarded the title Österreichischer Kammersänger.
